The launch
Until now, African brands have had no reliable way to measure how they appear inside the AI assistants their customers are increasingly using to shortlist products, agencies and services. Lighthouse GEO closes that gap.
The platform monitors brand visibility across the major AI surfaces — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude — producing an AI Visibility Score, competitor citation share, consumer intent mapping and source authority analysis. It is built for South African and African market conditions, with proprietary research methodology developed in-house by Algorithm.
The launch reflects a broader strategic shift at Algorithm. The agency, which has operated as a specialist performance marketing partner since 2010, has spent the last two years engineering Generative Engine Optimisation into the core of its SEO practice — long before most South African agencies recognised AI search as a category in its own right.
The thesis is simple:Google's blue links still drive demand, but a fast-growing share of commercial discovery is now happening inside AI-generated answers. Brands that build entity authority for that layer right now will be the ones AI models cite for the next decade. Brands that wait will find the category already owned by competitors.
